REDWOOD CITY, CA --
(MARKET WIRE)
-- 05/05/2008 --
SupportSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPRT), a
provider of software and services that make technology work, today
announced the acquisition of YourTechOnline.com Inc., an award-winning
provider of premium technology services. SupportSoft's consumer business
brings industry-leading technology, merchandizing and marketing expertise
and skilled service delivery agents to the growing remote technology
support industry. YourTechOnline's proven ability to deliver high-quality
customer experiences with North American work-from-home agents will bolster
SupportSoft's best-in-class remote technology support experience.
YourTechOnline is based in Kelowna, British Columbia. Founded in 2000, it
is one of the first companies in North America to offer remote delivery of
premium technology services. YourTechOnline's service delivery methodology
allows agents working from their homes to consistently deliver efficient
and effective solutions to challenging technology problems. The company's
service delivery expertise has been recognized and rewarded by leading
consumer technology industry publications. In addition to capturing a
coveted PC Magazine Editor's Choice award for "Best Online Tech Support" in
September, 2005, the magazine also gave YourTechOnline a Small Business
Award for its A La Carte technology services in October, 2007.
YourTechOnline's service delivery methodology involves technical support
agents who view and control a computer screen remotely. Once the connection
is made, the agent can work directly on the troubled machine, applying
targeted "solves" developed by YourTechOnline. The consumer does not need
to take the computer to a repair shop, schedule a technician for an in-home
service call, or follow confusing instructions over the phone.
YourTechOnline's service delivery methodology has earned it top marks for
customer responsiveness, technical proficiency, and quick and cost
effective solutions.
"SupportSoft is committed to expanding our leadership role in the remote
technology support industry," said Josh Pickus, president and CEO,
SupportSoft. "The addition of YourTechOnline's wealth of knowledge and
experience allows us to advance our work-from-home service delivery and
lead the way in providing a superior customer experience."
"YourTechOnline has pioneered and perfected the work-from-home model in
premium technology services," said Steve Wandler, founder and CEO,
YourTechOnline. "We are excited to join with SupportSoft to scale this
powerful service model."
Terms of the purchase, which was made in cash, were not disclosed.
