Dr. Shimon Eckhouse

Dr. Shimon Eckhouse is a co-founder of Syneron and a co-developer of the proprietary elos technology on which Syneron’s aesthetic medical devices are based. Dr. Eckhouse was also the inventor and developer of IPL technology, another fundamental cornerstone of non-invasive aesthetic medical devices.  In addition to serving as active chairman at Syneron, Dr. Shimon Eckhouse is also currently the chairman of Orsense Ltd., CardioDex Ltd., NanoCyte Ltd., Navotek Ltd., Tulip Ltd., ColorChip Ltd which he co-founded, Ventor Ltd. and is a director of WideMed Ltd. Dr. Eckhouse was the chairman and CEO of ESC Medical Systems from its inception in 1992 until 1999. Dr. Eckhouse also previously worked at Rafael, Armament Development Authority of Israel as a scientist, team leader and head of department and was active in various areas of R&D including lasers and electro-optics. Dr. Eckhouse holds a B.Sc. in physics from the Technion Israeli Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California at Irvine. He has more than 20 registered patents and published more than 50 papers in leading reference journals and conferences. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Technion Israeli Institute of Technology.  


David Schlachet

David Schlachet has been a member of the Board of Directors of Syneron since May 14, 2007.  Mr. Schlachet joined Syneron in 2004 as CFO and was appointed as CEO in November 2005. Prior to his joining Syneron, Mr. Schlachet was a managing partner of Biocom, a venture capital fund specializing in life sciences. In the broader technology and biotech area, Mr. Schlachet was Vice President of Finance and Administration of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel’s premier post-graduate scientific research institute. Mr. Schlachet also has held senior managerial positions in major Israeli corporations such as Strauss Elite Holdings, one of Israel’s largest packaged food groups, where he served as CFO, and Elite Industries, one of Israel’s largest chocolate and confectionary manufacturers, where he was active chairman. Mr. Schlachet currently serves as a director for Nasdaq listed EzChip (formerly LanOptics Ltd.), as well as for Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange listed companies Taya Investments Ltd., Mazor Surgical Technologies Ltd. and Edgar Investments and Developments Ltd., as well as a director of several privately owned Israeli companies. Mr. Schlachet holds a B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering and an M.B.A. from the Tel-Aviv University


Dan Suesskind

Dan Suesskind is the Chief Financial Officer of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., the largest generic drug company in the world, a position he has held since 1978. He served as a director of Teva until 2001 and is currently a member of the Jerusalem Foundation Investment Advisory Committee, the Board of Trustees of Hebrew University, Migdal Insurance Company, and Ness Technologies Inc.


Michael Anghel

Dr. Michael Anghel is the President and CEO of the Israel Discount Capital Markets and Investments Corp. Previously, he established CAP Ventures, which invested in and established several IT and communications enterprises. Earlier, he was senior director of IDB-Discount Investment Corporation. Dr. Anghel served as director of numerous companies, including DIC, Elbit, Elron, Elscint, AIPM and Orbotech.


Marshall Butler

Marshall Butler has served as a director since October 2003. Mr. Butler is a co-founder and has served as a chairman of both First Israel Mezzanine Investors Fund and Israeli Infinity VC Fund since 1996. Mr. Butler is currently a director of Tadiran Telecommunications Ltd., Shellcase, Galil Medical Ltd., New York State Council of Humanities and A.R.T. New York. Mr. Butler served as chairman of Nitzanim, AVX-Kyocera VC from 1994 to 2001. Mr. Butler served as CEO and chairman of AVX Corporation from 1974 to 1993 and as director of Kyocera VC from 1990 to 1994. Mr. Butler is on the Board of Governors of the Technion Institute in Haifa, Israel. In 1998, Mr. Butler received the Israeli Prime Minister's award for his contribution to Israeli industry. In 2001, he received an Honorary Doctorate from the Technion Institute.


Yaffa Krindel

Yaffa Krindel was appointed to the Board of Syneron in November 2005. Ms. Krindel is a Partner and Investment Manager of Star Ventures, one of Israel's largest venture capital funds, where she has made investments in IT and medical device companies in Israel.  Ms Krindel has served as CFO and VP Finance in two Israeli technology companies and as Corporate Treasurer in one of Israel's largest chemical producers.  Ms. Krindel currently serves on the board of directors of one other publically traded company, Fundtech, as well as privately held start ups including Broadlight Inc., Siano Mobile Communications, Negevtech, and OrSense Ltd.


Gerard E. Puorro

Gerard Puorro was appointed to the Board of Syneron in January 2010. Mr. Puorro was President & Chief Executive Officer of Candela Corporation from April 1993 to 2010.  From 1991 – 1993, he was Candela’s Chief Operating Officer and from 1989-1991, he was the Company’s Chief Financial Officer.  He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business in the “Business and Biotechnology” lecture series.  He is also a visiting lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management in the “Managing in Adversity” lecture series.  Mr. Puorro has been an active member in his community.  He has served as a Special Olympics Coach, as President of the Board of Trustees for the Deaf Community Center in his hometown of Framingham, Massachusetts, as a member of the President’s Commission on Americans with Disabilities, and the Massachusetts Governor’s Commission for Employment of Individuals with Disabilities. Mr. Puorro is a Member Emeritus and Consultant to the Board of Directors of the Sturge-Weber Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with Sturge-Weber Syndrome. Mr. Puorro is a graduate of Bentley University with dual majors in Accounting and Taxation.
